i lived in ksa for 18 years....i loved it...its an amazing country...my country...

i finished school and decided to continue studying in the uae 3ashan a3tamid 3ala nafsi shwaya...o kaman my major (computer engineering) is better taught outside of ksa...

i came to the american university of sharjah...i got used to be around girls which was a big change since i have lived all my life in riyadh...

in the first day of uni i meet a girl who wasnt saudi...well she was nice till i told her am saudi...ka2anni goltallah am gonna kill u in a while...sarat bs tebgha tenhi ilkalam o teseebni...

a week later i get to know another girl who is also not saudi...she was ok about it...bs one day i wanted to call and ask about her...her mom answers...she figured that am saudi...the next day the girl tells me inno ommaha hazza2at-ha o bahdalat-ha 3ashannaha met3arefa 3ala s3oodi...

in the end of last semester i was working with a group of ppl on making a short movie...they were mostly girls...we were doing a scene in a cafe far from uni...and there were only 2 cars...so 2 girls had to ride with me in the car...law teshoofo ashakalahom lamma aktashafo inno lazem yerkabo ma3aya...ka2anni 7a56ofhom...

i can go on for ever with out an end....
y is that? y the moment ppl hear saudi they just conclude wa7ed 9aye3 daye3 5arbaaan? a9abe3kom mahi zay ba3ad...

i know inno lots of saudi guys yesawo il3ajab lamma yesafro barra bs thats not a reason...
some of u would say inno i7na saudis we dont like ppl criticizing us...well thats also not a reason...ya3ni ur judging on 20 million ppl 3ala asas 2 million bel kateer...

RIYADH (AFP) - Newly crowned Saudi King Abdullah has allocated 1.25 billion dollars for expansion work at the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, Islam's second holiest site, official media said.

Abdullah, who acceded to the throne of the oil-rich kingdom after the death of his half-brother King Fahd on August 1, ordered that the expansion work started at the holy place be completed at a cost of 4.7 billion riyals.

The work includes the construction of courtyards, roads, car parks and tunnels.

Under king Fahd, who became monarch in 1982, Saudi Arabia spent more than 100 billion riyals (around 27 billion dollars) on expanding and upgrading Islam's holiest sites in Mecca and Medina to accommodate millions of worshippers and pilgrims.

The Louver, the world's largest museum, is to get a new wing to display its vast collection of Islamic art thanks to a 17 million-euro gift by the Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal bent on mending post-9/11 ties between the West and Arabs.

The gift of the prince, one of the richest individuals on the planet, is one is one of the largest in France's history, French Culture Minister Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres said at a ceremony Tuesday.

Ironically, some Saudis think Prince Al-Waleed is wrong, and he could spend this huge amount of money in his country instead of donating them to the Louver. Prince Al-Waleed is not so popular among conservatives in the country because he always promoted social reform, especially his stance on women's rights.

The explosions came a day after London was awarded the 2012 Olympics and as the G-8 summit was getting under way in Scotland.

"We are concerned that this is a coordinated attack. We are aware that one of the sites does contain indications of explosives," London police chief Sir Ian Blair said on Sky News.

Instead of each device needing its own charger, it may soon be possible to recharge phones and cameras by placing them on a plastic pad the size of a mouse mat. A dense array of coils buried in the pad will transmit energy to the gadget to charge its batteries. And it will be possible to charge as many gadgets as can fit on the pad at once, the inventors say.

The prince would not say where Jackson was staying in the Rhode Island-sized kingdom.

Jackson was acquitted of child molestation charges in a California court on June 13.

The singer arrived alone, without his three children.

yesterday i went to an italian restaurant in the Fairmont hotel, its called bacchos....its a really good place but its too classy and quiet...its design is okay and the view is on the hotel's swimming pool...
the food is really good and the service is great, maybe cuz not lots of ppl are there...
if u ever go there try the angel hair pasta with seafood and tomato sauce...its really good :D
in general its a really good place so check it out when you can :D

lenotre is new dessert place that has just opened in dubai....its amazing they have really good cakes...i know this place from saudi arabia...i used to buy from it weekly :D just dont miss it...

you can find it in spinney's jumierah...the one in front of japengo...the earlier u go the more options u get...cuz the cakes finishes quickly :D

yesterday was the engagement party of one of the guys...i cant believe he is getting engaged...alf mabrook ya 3ez :D 3ogbalna :p

and the party was in al-3een so we decided to go a day before and take a room in the hilton which we thought will be something amazing...we were soo looking forward for il3een...inno we have never been there so coool...

the road took us 40 minutes which was pretty fast :D the first thing we noticed in il3een that they love roundabouts :s there are more than a hundred one i guess :s

when we arrived at the hotel we were shocked : it was a disaster...the first thing we did is call rotana and intercontenintal hotels to change but they were fully booked...so we're stuck with the hilton...we took a cahlet to make it a bit better...

we went cruising in the city...there is totally nothing to do...even the cinemas had only 4 movies to show and we saw them all :s

something else i noticed that when u r in il3een u feel like u r in the UAE....everyone is in deshdasha or 3abaya...

when we got totally bored we went to jabal 7afeet...it was amazing...the weather up there is a bit better than the 45 degreas we r living in now and its a bit windy as well...it was nice...that was at 2 am and it was too dark so i didnt take any pics :s

the day after on thursday we started getting ready for the party so went out for a haircut and we put the cloth in the laundry in the hotel which cost us 300 dhs for 4 kandooras and 3 ashmigha :@ i hate that hotel soo bad, even the room service wasnt good :s
everyone of us got soo fancy, half of us wore kandooras and the other half wore suits :D we went to the party, had dinner and then had an "after party"...that was the best part...we went crazy and everyone in the hotel started to complaint about us :D

we stayed up till 4 am and in the next day we went back to uni..

go karting

today was the craziest day in the whole semester...it was amazing bs reje3na mayteen ta3ab...
first of all some of the guys rented a murano for only one day...and they didnt wanna waste a minute so first of all we decided to goo shooting AGAIN eventhough yesterday we were there...mashalla 3aleehom sakkaro il3addad 210 km/h (thats the good thing about a rented car :D) it took us like 30 minuetes from AUS...thats pretty fast...
after that we wnt go karting which is just next to the shooting club...it was our first time...it was amazing i placed fifth in the race but i enjoyed it soo much :D
a7la shi kan iluniforms illi lazem nelbas-ha wel helmets :D we looked like we escaped from the movie armageddon...this is a pic of one of the guys in the uniform...

we wanted to go and try paintball after go karting bs sara7a we were soo tired so we went back to uni..changed, took a shower and went out again to have dinner....ro7na tgi friyday's o ba3d ilakil 5alas no one could move so back to dorms and SLEEP

after getting out of grand hyatt, we started to think where else to go...dubai is geeting really boring and there are no new places to go to....suddenly one of the guys suggested to goo shooting...thats smthg new so we called them and made a reservation...
it was sooo far, it took us almost 45 minutes till we found the exact location and reached it...but honestly it was worth it :D
u go in, fill up a form and buy the shotgun shells....80 dhs. for 25 shells (1 box)...so wee took a box 4 each of us...

after that u go into another room where they give u the shotguns....it was soo cool :D...

there is one guy who went with us to tell us the safety instructions and teach us how to shoot....there are like different bases where the clay get out from...some of them r so easy and slow...while others are sooo hard and faaast...

it was soo much fun but i sucked at it :s i got only 5 out of 25 :s and thats really bad....the highest score was 11/25...we should practice more :s
the only bad thing that ur shoulder might hurt u a bit later on and its a bit hard to drive after it...but with time u get used to it :D...

after the shooting we went back directly to bed :D...

it has been a long time since i blogged, but i have been really busy :s
a month ago i bought a dubai restaurant guide and i have planned to finish all the restaurants before i finish university :D there is almost 300 restaurants and so far i have crossed out 30 :D

anyways last weekend i went out with the guys to a place called Da Vinchi's...its a really good italian restaurant :D...they have really good lobster dishes...
after that we went to grand hyatt hotel to have some dessert there (medalli3een nafsana :D)...and in the hotel we saw darine :D...she was in an interview...so after she was finished we asked her to take some pics with us...she seemed really cool and sweet...

yesterday i went to a safari trip orginized by the saudi, yemeni, bahrini, emarati & qatari cultural clubs in the AUS....it was soo much fun...espicially the dune bashing...it was my first time and definetly not the last...we were about 70 ppl...not alot but fun....we also danced, played cards, had a bbq dinner after waiting soo long 4 it :D...and ya not to forget the sand skiing...it was ssoooo coool :D...

i borrowed my friends camera to take some pics...check them out...there r such funny captures that i loved...

today was the AUS karaoke 2005....the event took place from 5:30 till 9:00 pm....it was sooo nice...everyone sang really good...i wish i had a nice voice :(....anyways it was sooo crowded and full of people...

there were prices for the first 3 places....1st place wins vip tickets to the destiny's child concert which will take place in may...2nd place wins free tickets for the concer and gift voucher in virgin mega store and free cine star cinema tickets....& 3rd place wins a dvd player...

the annoying thing is i didnt have my camera to take fotos of the event...but here is my friend's link...she took some fotos :D

global village

last year i didnt really enjoy the global village...inno it was so crowded, really hot...i just didnt like it...so i wasnt looking forward at all to go to it this year...evnthough i heard this year its a lot nicer...its totally in a different area which is huge....

my friends wanted to go...i wont stay on myown in the dorms, so i went with them...last year the parking was a horrible thing...we spent almost a whole hour till we managed to go int...but this year it was much easier...it didnt take us five minutes...maybe its also cuz we went after the DSF has ended...

on the entrance i found maps of the place....i loved the maps...it was really helpful...everything was orginized in a better way....to be honest i enjoyed my time there....

we went into the saudi corner, lebaneese, syrian, palestanian, jordanian, kuwaiti, chineese, japanease, german, italian and swiss corners....of course i have liked the saudi corner the most :p....i just love my country :D...the thing i like in the saudi corner...that it was the only one that has covered the whole floor with ceramic...it was sooo shiny :D

the german corner was really good...i actually wanted to buy some stuff from there...

we stayed there from 9 till 12 and we enjoyed it....if u havent been there...go u wont regret it...the global village will stay on till the 31st of march so dont miss it...1 month more to go :D

today i have decided to go out with a friend...first of all i have struggled for a whole hour trying to find a free taxi (i have to get a car soon :@)...and when i find one, he tells me that he will be here in 30 minutes...and he never comes...i got so pissed that in the end i called four different taxis and decided to go with who comes first...5 minutes later i found a free taxi in front of the dorms so we went with him and ditched the others....i was soooo pissed...

the 2nd issue is to find a place to go to...we went almost to every where and we wnna go some where new...we always end up going to the city center but this time nop...cuz as i have said before i hate crowded places...soo we decided to go to lamcy plaza...i have never been there so y not :D

it wasnt bad after all...its full of indian ppl but its nice and different than all the other malls....

after that we went to a thai restara called lemon grass...its next to lamcy plaza...to be honest the restaurant's logo made us go in...its a very cosy, nice & romantic place...really quiet, not crowded...its just amazing....their menu was soo cool...its all in light green (cool color btw)...

the service was really good, maybe cuz not lots of ppl were eating there...and finally, their food is really really good...i enjoyed it to a limit that i started to eat uneatable stuff :S...let me tell u wat happened exactly...i have ordered this kind of chicken that comes wrapped with smthg that has to do with a tree (i didnt understand wat was it, but it was a tree)...well the thing is i didnt know that until i have eaten almost all of it :S...it was soo embaressing...but it was delicious :S...my friend started calling me tree eater :@...

after that dinner...back to uni...btw it was really coooold...and i was wearing a t-shirt only...then i wore a scarf ;)

i know that other countries make lots of more useful stuff than my country but i just like it...and ya i remember once i was in washington dc on a school trip...that was like umm maybe 4 years ago....i was walking in a shop called jc penny...do u know it??? anyways, one of the guys liked a shirt and tried it out...i was looking for the size when i saw a tag with "made in saudi arabia" on it...i was soooo shocked...inno coool :D...i consider it a remarkable thing...i wish that i had a camera that day...

yesterday was a really nice day...well first of all i went out with the guys to watch a movie in the city center...but we ended up having dinner in china times cuz we were so hungry to watch a movie...and we kind of saw all the movies in da cinema...u know china times?? its beside chilli's and coco's...its a good restaraunt if u r sick of fast food...but there are lots of better chineese restaraunts...

after we came back to the dorms...we played cards...a game called trix...it takes at least 2 hours to finish...it needs lots of thinking and lots of practice...i always lose but am learning...only 4 ppl can play this game and yesterday i was ranked 4th :D

we ended playing @ almost 5 am...and we were really sleepy and hungry...we choose our stomach's over sleeping...we had to think of a place that opens 24/7...so we went to subway :D...all of us looked miserable...

we went back to the dorms and all of us slept in one room like dead ppl...we woke up @ 4 pm today :D...a555 i love weekends :D

the semester spring 2005 has just started...i did really bad last semester, so i have to make it up this semester inshalla...

well as the beginning of each semester, me and my friends have to go to they city center and start shopping for our dorm's room...

today i went out with a friend...got some stuff from carrefore...and for the first time i buy wat i need only...usually i go crazy and start buying stuff that i wont ever need...well i remember once i saw a really cool bottle of water....it was for 15 dirhams and thats quite alot for 750 ml bottle of water...but i couldnt resist it...it was transperant and it was just cool...so i bought it, and it took me a whole week to finish it...a sip each day :D

well after we finished from carrefore, we went to ikea....i just love that place i have to go there every month...and every time i go i buy like if it is my first time to be there...i really like to decorate my room all the time...and every semester i try to figure out a new decoration for my room...and this semester am planning smthg really different...i will tell u once i do it :D

in ikea they have these room slippers...they're really comfortable...i used to buy white ones...but this time found red ones...which would match my room perfectly...btw my room is all red...i love that color...dont ask me why!!

this time i didnt buy lots of stuff...also i just bought wat i need...

i think i will call it a post :D
